IAW Hosts a Module at this Year's MINT-EC Camp
Pupils Gain Insight Into the Institute's Work
The MINT-EC association regularly organizes the MINT-EC Camp at RWTH Aachen University. During this event, which lasts several days, pupils get an insight into the university.
On November 10, 2022 the IAW held a session focusing on the human-centered development of human-machine interfaces. First, professor Alexander Mertens introduced the pupils to the topic of usability in a tangible way. Afterwards, they were asked to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice. Each group chose a use case for which they wanted to develop software as a paper prototype and set to work with great motivation. Finally, the pupils presented their excellent results to the plenum.
The final activity was the age simulation: Using a tremor simulation glove and the age simulation suit GERT, age was made palpable for the pupils. "Oh, now I understand how my grandma must feel," said one of the participants.
