Project Results Presented: Analysis of the Work of CAM Planners for the Development of Intelligent Support Systems for Process Planning

In the project CAM2030, an interdisciplinary consortium is working on making software systems for computer-aided manufacturing, known under the acronym CAM, more intelligent. In order to identify potential for better support of CAM planners, a team of researchers from the Department Work Organization of the IAW conducted a work analysis. The findings revealed, among other things, that the participants in the survey would actually appreciate a higher degree of automation in order to be able to carry out the complex planning task more efficiently and effectively. However, motivating work task characteristics, such as the high level of autonomy and the holistic character of the task, should not be restricted by intelligent support. The 68th Frühjahrskongress of the Gesellschaft für Arbeitswissenschaft offered the opportunity to present and discuss the approach and the findings. Those who would like to know more will find a detailed description in the secondary publication of the article. Please note that the publication is only available in German.
