On the one hand, digitization as part of work and society is an objective of vocational education and training processes in order to enhance expertise. On the other hand, digitization supports vocational education and training as a tool such as enriching teaching and learning option with the help of digital media. From this perspective the TVET Department does not only create digital learning aids for teaching simple assembly tasks at the workplace with the help of learning tutorials or courses with work-related mobile learning applications, but also the development of comprehensive digital learning systems with AR and VR applications.

Digitization of work implies vocational education and training processes that focus for instance on digital tools such as planning and simulation software in vocational fields of industry and craft. These digital solutions offer companies new opportunities to design digital process chains and, as a subset, work processes. Therefore, they become an independent educational object and objective of skilled vocational work. This gives rise to the need for relevant studies in qualification research, e.g., as work process analyses or expert workshops.
