As a member of the Integrative Produktionstechnik für Hochlohnländer (Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries) Cluster of Excellence within the PROTECA Network at North Rhine-Westphalia’s state community the IAW – Institut für Arbeitswissenschaft (Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics) – participated in the Hannover Fair Industry 2017, presenting results of current research activities.
Trade fair visitors who were interested had a chance to test a system for real-time analysis of body postures developed in the joint project Engage4Pro that entails an optical sensor which records and evaluates the posture of people at work without markers By an algorithm that was also developed in the joint project, recommendations for optimizing the work situation are issued directly by the system. The approach shows that in the age of digitization and intelligent networking, the needs of the working person can also be taken into account in real time when designing industrial systems.
