The innowas research project was honored as a location of the future in the course of the Science Year 2018 – Working Worlds of the Future, which focuses on "changing professions, education and qualifications and the issue of exploiting the opportunities offered by digitization", for which the IAW – Institut für Arbeitswissenschaft (Institute of Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics) – and the project’s sponsor, the BiBB – Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung (Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training) – were responsible.

The project is headed by the Technical Vocational Education and Training Department at the IAW; in late 2018, in cooperation with the WZL – Werkzeugmaschinenlabor (Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering) – and the Demonstrationsfabrik Aachen an innovative continuing education concept in areas of manual assembly will be developed, implemented and evaluated. During this process, the participants will create tutorials on their own that can be used by other employees as part of the knowledge management of companies.
