Abstract

Younger (20-35 years) and older participants (52-67 years), whose task was to repeatedly assemble a component, were examined. In three laboratory studies (1) the type of task description, (2) the method to introduce into the new task or (3) the duration of breaks were varied. As dependent variables, the duration of execution, the number of errors and the subjectively perceived stresses were recorded. In addition to the analysis of the dependent variables, models of the time structure during learning were derived.
