Technical Vocational Education and Training
The Department of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) investigates and analyzes changes of skilled work with a qualification research approach.
Based on empirical studies, the department develops TVET learning concepts in different domains for skilled workers, both in apprenticeships and training. The focus is on work and vocations that incorporate mechanical engineering technology, automotive technology, manufacturing technology, supply technology and textile and clothing technology.
Changes in skilled work, e.g. the consequences of the digital transformation, influence the requirements for training personnel and apprenticeship trainers in companies as well as teachers at vocational schools. These changing requirements are objective of systematical surveys by the TVET. The department integrates the results in innovative learning concepts to qualify these heterogeneous target groups.
Unique digital media often support the learning processes for skilled workers. The institute develops these digital learning media solutions and examines them with regard to their learning effectiveness.
