By broadening perception, respectively increasing transparency points of reference for organizational actions and decisions within the organization change and are made accessible to broader discussion. Understanding and making "aware" these interrelations should help to efficiently use awareness and awareness mechanisms to support cooperation, maybe even in form of computer-supported aids. This paper describes a process-oriented model of awareness which offers a framework to assign a multitude of existing approaches to explain awareness and awareness-mechanisms.
